Part two
Parents of Children are big contributors to banning certain books. Parents want their children to be innocent for a long time and they don't want them to know about the harsh things in life. They don't their children reading about drugs, foul language and sexual concepts in the books they read. Librarians and Children are opposed to this. Librarians dont remove any book from their library unless someone complians because of Freedom Of Speech. Children are against this becaouse they believe they should read whatever they want. I'm completely against banning books but there should be restrictions on some books. If there is sexual preferences, drug related, and foul language you shouldn't be able to read it if your like 8. Certain books should have age limits to them.

Part 1
Hugh Latimer and Nicholas Ridley were both burned on October 16,1555. They were burned by The Queen who was Mary and also Hugh Latimer's own sister. Before they were burned King Henry was the in rule. Hugh Latimer was a Preacher but later resigned in protest because King Henry refused to allow Protestant reforms. Latimer's sermons spoke little about doctrine and urged men to upright living and devoutness in prayer. Nicholas Ridley was Adherent of the protestant. He was the private chaplain to the king and part of the committee that made the first English Book of Common Prayer. Henry and Nicholas weren't catholic and spoke out against the king and his religion. People believed that they preached the "devil's religion." They were considered Heretics. Latimer and Ridley were confident in the things they preached because it gave people a choice like Freedom of Religion. Hugh Latimer's last words were "Be of good cheer, Master Ridley, and play the man, for we shall this day light such a candle in England as I trust by God' grace shall never be put out."This is important to remind people of this history because it shows how England censored out other religions and burned you if you weren't catholic.
These pictures influenced Bradbury to write Fahrenheit 451 because they burned books. Just like in the book. The Germans burned non-German Books because the Germans wanted full control. In the book they didn't describe what nationality everybody was but the leaders burned all books so they would be more powerful than anybody else. The Blacklist started in November 1947 when ten writers and directors refused to give a testimony to HUAC. The HUAC means House Committee on Un-American Activities. I think this was wrong and is a type of censorship. This might have inspired Bradbury to write this because they told the people what they could write about and if they didn't they killed them. Just like if you have books in your house your considered going against the government.

Prompt 2
When the bomb dropped in the city at first Montag was all
sad. He kept thinking about Clarisse and his wife Millie and yelling their
names. He was telling them to get out and escape the city even though they
couldn’t hear him. He later remembered that Clarisse was dead and his wife left
him so she wouldn’t listen to him any way. As he looked at the town his feeling
changed quickly. He was no longer sad he was happy and content in a way. He
felt as though this was a new beginning for the human kind to be normal. This
is a time to restart and start living the way they were supposed to. No burning
books but a society where they actually learned things and no one got “killed”
for being different or for being too smart.
A place where there is Front Porches, Gardens and rocking chairs and
technology would no longer run their lives.
The government purposely captures an innocent victim when
they can’t find Montag. They did this so everybody doesn’t think they are
failures and they should still be scared. As they captured the innocent guy
they didn’t even show his face. They showed on television the dog attacking the
man but kept the cameras zoomed out. Each time the man’s face would have been
showed they would black out the screen. Even Montag’s friends wouldn’t have believed
the government that it was him. If the people knew the government failed the government
wouldn’t be as powerful.

prompt 1 and 2
Prompt 1
In Fahrenheit 451
being a pedestrian is considered a crime. In this society technology took over.
Everybody is always in their car or in their house. Everybody is antisocial.
There’s no need to walk anywhere when you have all the technology they have
now. In the book “The Pedestrian” the
main character gets arrested just because he was walking outside. They cops
thought he was going to get in trouble since no one else was walking around and
no one else ever did. I think the main reason the higher authorities say it’s a
crime to go walking around outside because it makes you think. Knowledge is
power. Normally when people go outside they observe things and think about
stuff. In Fahrenheit 451 everybody
has the same knowledge and no one is allowed to read or walk outside. If
someone becomes smarter than the higher authorities they could over run the
government. Even worse they could discover the secret of the books and the firemen.
if they discover the secrets of the pasts than they could go and tell the rest
of the people about it. Then their whole society would be ruined.
Prompt 4
Beatty hasn’t been punished because none of the other guys
are smart enough to realize that he reads the books. The mechanical hound doesn’t
catch him because Beatty is the one who programs him. So the mechanical hound
will never find him. Also he is the captain of the fire department so if there
is no Beatty than there is no one else to tell the other firefighters what to
do. I also think he just pretends to hate books so no one knows that he
actually loves them and reads them.

Prompt 3
In the book Fahrenheit 451 they have fireman like we do today
they dress the same and look the same but there is one thing different, one
major difference. The firemen aren’t like the ones we are use to. These
firefighters don’t really fight fires, they cause them. They find books and
burn them. All books are burned and illegal to have. If the firemen find a book
they burn the whole houses down and even burn the people if they don’t get out
of the house. They really don’t care. No
one really knows about the past except for the fire chiefs. In pages 3-4 it
says that Montag really enjoys his job. He smiles every time he sees that fire
and the smell of the burning books. “Later going to sleep, he would feel the
fiery smile still gripped to his face muscles, in the dark. It never went away,
that smile, it never ever went away, as long as he remembered.” This was the
way he was every night when he came home from work. He absolutely loved his job
and never even dreamed about having another job. Everything was perfect. Until
one day he met a girl named Clarisse McClellan and everything changed. He
learned about the truth of the past. He learned that firefighter once did make
fires go out not start them. After this he started questioning everything. Something
tragic happens while at work and that was a major turning point. He no longer
likes his job and wishes he never was a fireman.

The two stories The Bass, The River, and
Sheila Mant and Catch the Moon have many differences and similarities. Both the
main characters are trying to impress a girl they like. They both lose someone
they love. The boy in The Bass, The River and Sheila Mant loses the girl of his
dreams. In Catch the Moon the boy loses his mom. They change their ways for
something. They both realize at the end that things don’t always happen the way
they want it too. They both learned some sort of lesson. There are also many differences
in the stories. They may both love someone but the type of love is different.
The boy in Catch the Moon loves his mom. Even though his mom died her love
still helps him to change his bad ways and become a better person. In The Bass,
The River and Sheila Mint the boys love for fishing gives him strength when the
girl he loved crushed his heart. They are both teenage boys. In Catch the moon
the boy has always been getting into trouble with the cops. He created a “gang”
of kids that get into trouble just for fun. Hess father owns a junkyard but he doesn't appreciate it one bit. Until this one girl shows up that change everything. He
becomes a better person and learns to appreciate his father’s junk yard. He does
this all for a girl he likes. He knows he will never get a chance with her if
he doesn't change. The boy in the bass, The River and Shelia Mant loves to fish
and thinks he is in love with a girl. He
has been trying to get this girls attention forever now. He finally gets her to
agree to go on a date with him but everything changes. While they were on their
date she mentioned something that upset the boy. She mentioned that she hates
fishing. The boy’s feelings for her quickly change.
